I absolutely love drugstore makeup. It is cheap and affordable. Literally, every time I wear makeup it is 100% drugstore makeup. From primer to setting spray, everything is drugstore makeup. I remember when I first started wearing makeup all I wore was a caked-on powdered foundation, black eyeliner on my upper and lower waterline and 1 coat of black mascara. One day I went into the Woolworths and bought the darkest liquid foundation in stock. owever, it was not dark enough and I put a thick layer of the powdered foundation to make it dark enough. Ughh, enough of my embarrassing first encounter with makeup. I have come a long away and currently have a drawer full of lipsticks that I haven’t opened and a massive obsession that I haven’t killed yet. On to the reason for this post, here is my top 5 favourite drugstore makeup:
1 – Models Prefer Foundation

This foundation is a semi-matte medium coverage foundation. I bought this foundation while Australia was in winter and it was perfect because of the subtle dewy finish that I like during those dry and cold winter months. Models Prefer foundation is easily buildable. The foundation is good at catching products and locking them in. When you apply this liquid foundation it is just that: liquid. Shortly after application it dries up and gives that semi-matte medium coverage it claims. This foundation really stays on as well. It even lasts my almost 24-hour university/study days. Obviously, towards the night, it starts to come off a little bit but if that is an issue then a little touch-up and it is as good as new. I am soon to try Maybelline Fit Me range for a more matte finish. As during the hotter and sweater seasons, I prefer a more matte finish to my foundation. I used a silicone beauty blender to apply my liquid foundation.
2 – Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

When I was first started wearing makeup, I did a lot of research. Especially into concealers: from the high-end brands to the drugstore. I have always worn Maybelline Fit Me. Apparently, it is a makeup dupe* for Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. So that was more than enough reason for me to use this concealer. I have always worked with a creamy concealer because I find it easier to manipulate to my weird uneven eyes and eyebrows and to be honest my whole face… 🙂 . Maybelline Fit Me Concealer has pretty medium coverage and is easily buildable as well. I have major panda eyes, therefore, I actually apply about 3 layers if I decided not to wear foundation and 1 and maybe a half layers when I do. These layers and a quick bake my under eyes, lock the product in. Majority of the time, because of how late I am in the morning and in general, I only wear this concealer. This with my L’oreal Naturally Luminous Loose Powder is the perfect combination that happens to be my everyday full face.
*Makeup dupe is the term used for a makeup product that is cheaper and very similar to high-end makeup.
3 – L’oreal Translucide Naturally Luminous Loose Powder

This is my all time favourite powder o and I can’t do makeup without it. Unfortunately, this product has been discontinued. So I have to try to find a new one but that is not the point of this. This is literally magic. This powder is so thin and light and has high coverage. The translucent powder is really thin and light with the extra bonus of matte high coverage. I am not going to get into this product so much because L’oreal stopped producing it; there is no point and hence no price listed above.
4 – Natio Dramatic Lashes Mascara

Currently, I am using Innoxa Black Mascara. One day I had lost my Innoxa mascara in the zoo mess of my room and opened my Natio black mascara and oh my god. I absolutely love it. I just need to finish my Innoxa first; third world problems here 😉 . Both of these mascaras is made from all natural products. I have had really sensitive eyes a few years now. So I switched to a natural and ever since my mascara doesn’t make my eye itchy. Especially, since I wear mascara very close to my upper waterline. A few coats of Natio mascara and my eyelashes are pigmented, thick, long and actually visibly present. My natural eyelashes aren’t very present, and Natio Mascara makes them very present. With easy application and a smooth and highly pigmented mixture, I definitely recommend trying these mascara. It lasts very long and this is by far my favourite mascara ever.
5 – Chi Chi Eyebrow Pencil

If I had to choose one thing out of my whole makeup routine it would be my eyebrows. You can apply it lightly for a natural eyebrow look or apply with a little force and get a fuller eyebrow. This product is easily buildable and not so easily cake-able. Which is perfect for when you try to finish the look with a bold eyebrow. Chi Chi Eyebrow Pencil lasts so long. This pencil is so pigmented that you only need to use the tiniest bit of actual product. Shoutout to my cousin for showing me this product that I now live by.
Disclaimer: I am not saying that one must be wearing makeup to be beautiful or confident. There are multiple ways to be confident. You are already beautiful ❤ .
