Whether you wear glasses constantly, just for the computer, just for reading or as a fashion statement, if you wear makeup you understand how hard it is to maintain and look decent while wearing your glasses. Well, fear no more, I have 11 tips for you. They really work and I am sure you will love wearing your glasses and show off the frame you choose 🙂
1 – Remove Excess Oils
Removing excess oil can help reduce the friction from your glasses and nose. This can be done by not applying any moisturizer to the bridge of your nose or simply patting dry that area. Also, remove excess oil from your checks, just were your glasses sit or touch. In general, if you remove the excess oils from your skin then your makeup will sit a lot better and will last a lot longer.
2 – Oil-Free and Mattifying Primer
This tip goes with Tip 1: using an oil-free, mattifying primer on your nose and on the tip of the checks can help remove excess oil and keep the area dry throughout the day. Can’t go wrong with a matte finish.
3 – Apply Makeup on the Tip of the Nose, not the Bridge
When applying foundation and concealer apply it on the tip of your nose and not the bridge of the nose. This is because glasses sit at the bridge so any form of friction will cause them to move around. In turn, causing an imprint of the glasses nose piece shape.
4 – Set the foundation well
Whether you bake your face or use a setting spray or both. Make sure your foundation is set well and is completely dry before you wear your glasses. Not only will this allow your makeup to last longer it will also ensure that there is less transferred onto your glasses.
5 – Eyebrows!
Eyebrows define your face shape believe it or not. They can really transform your face. So much so that I wrote a whole blog post on eyebrows: The Ultimate Eyebrow Cheat Sheet. Filling in your eyebrows to shaping them to maintaining them. Will transform the way you look.
6 – Cover up Dark Cycles
Whether you colour correct or use concealer or both, you should cover up your dark circles. Glasses make the eyes seem darker than they normally are due to the shadow it casts. Therefore using colour corrector or concealer or both, you can easily brighten up your eyes.
7 – Wear a Neutral Highlighter on Your Lids
Use a highlighter to literally highlight your eyelids can reduce the dark shadow that glasses can give. Don’t do anything fancy as it will be too busy around your eyes. A simple neutral highlighter can go a long way.
8 – Add Wings and Fly for Dayz
If you are one to wear eyeliner, then you should wear a wing as well. Be as dramatic as you want with this. A wing eyeliner opens up your eyes and makes them seem bigger. They really make a difference so if there is something new you want to try with makeup, eyeliner is definitely an easy and life-changing thing to try.
9 – Use White Eyeliner for the Lower Waterline
This again will brighten and open up your eyes. White eyeliner on the lower waterline can be used for an everyday purpose. It is the small things that make the biggest difference in the end. White eyeliner simply brightens your eye while making them seem bigger; use this whether you wear glasses or not.
10 – Don’t Wear False Eyelashes
Wearing false eyelashes can distract the world from the beautiful frame you have chosen. Also, this will make the eye area darker than usual. On top of that, it will undo all the other tips I have given above. Instead, curl your eyelashes and apply a few coats of mascara.
11 – Don’t Apply a Heavy Amount of Mascara
Having a heavy amount of mascara will have the same effect as false eyelashes. Apply one or two coats. Make sure to clean up any small boo boos. On top of that on the bottom just apply one coat as the shadowing there will undo the colour correcting and/or the concealer.
On the days, I decide to wear makeup. I follow these steps just in case I have to wear my glasses.
