I don’t know about you but ever since I remember I have always had thick thighs. They have stayed similar size every since puberty hit. I have learned to love them but I know there are a bunch of ladies and gents who find thick thighs part of their insecurities. I love wearing shorts but every time I do wear shorts, I always feel like someone is staring and judging me really bad. I always feel so uncomfortable. However, after I changed my style, I am way more comfortable now on days. Looking back, I realised these 5 things that I did differently.
1 – Slits are your Best Friend
When you are buying shorts, the smallest detail makes a big difference. If you find shorts that have a small slit or do a do-it-yourself project and make slits into your shorts, then your thighs will automatically looker smaller. The slit allows your shorts not to hung your thigh so tightly. Leading to an illusion of slimmer thighs.
2 – Pleats are your other Best Friend
Pleats generally have a hidden effect on clothes. Especially since the clothes that come with pleats, are generally lighter, thinner and flowy. They are comfortable, wearable. They can hide your thighs and make them look slimmer. Just make sure that the material is light and flowy because then your thighs would actually look bigger.
3 – Extra Pieces
If you through in a light cardigan that is long and flowy or simple a kimono you can easily distract the eye from your thighs. If you add a piece with tassels or strings hanging off then the eye will be so distracted that your thighs will be invisible. It is also very trendy and stable for any wardrobe.
4 – Simple Shoes
Shoes make all the difference to any outfits, wardrobe and look. The thicker the thigh, less bulky the shoes should be. They will make your legs seems heavier, shorter and broader. Either opt for a shoe that is small: sandals, flats and small casual runners. They will help make your legs seem longer and in turn, make your thighs thinner and slimmer. However, currently, the trend is to have a chunky and thicker shoe paired with a fitted outfit. So it depends on your comfort and your preference.
5 – Right Size is Important
Don’t wear shorts that are too short that they ride up your leg or too tight that they bunch up in awkward places. Not only will this bring unwanted attention to your legs but make your legs bigger because of the tight-fitting. On the other hand, you don’t want them too loose because they will make your thighs look bigger and cause the eye to look there.
No matter what you do, I just want you to know that you don’t have to hide your thighs. I personally do and I am way happier but that doesn’t mean it will work for you. People honestly just need to keep their unwanted opinions to themselves and move on with their lives. Nobody is ‘perfect’ and that is how it is supposed to be. Don’t forget to love yourself.
