Hello my lovelies!!! I have recently been asked about my skincare routine or have been suggested items however I have declined as I have a routine that works for me. So finally I have my skincare routine that has literally saved me during quarantine. This routine has been set well before the COVID-19 pandemic however if it hadn’t been then my skin would be full of pimples, scars, rashes and really sensitive.
Disclaimer: This skincare routine works for me. Under no circumstances am I a dermatologist of any sort. This routine has been formulated from countless hours of untrustworthy research, suggestions of friends and loved ones and experimenting. What works for me may not work for you and before you try any product that anyone suggests, you should test the product on a small patch of your skin before you go on to use the product properly.
Step 1: Wash my face
With Sukin Cleaning (Face) lotion, I wash my face. I wash my hands first (clean hands is key) and then go to apply lukewarm warm to my face. Now with a small drop of cleaning lotion on my middle finger and ring finger, I make lots v and/or w shapes on my face and make a circle around my eyes. I have dry sensitive skin so the cleansing lotion with a light handling helps me manage my rashes.
Step 2: Dry
I PAT dry my face. Rubbing aggravates my skin and increases my rashes.
Step 3: Toner
Depending on how many rashes I have on my face, I either get aloe vera gel and mix in my toner or a cotton pad with toner and apply toner. I let it air dry and move on to the next step.
Step 4: Serums + Aloe Vera
Using aloe vera gel and my 3 (yes 3) serums mixed together and apply on my face and pat dry; as if I am blending my makeup in. 1 serum has Niacinamide and Zinc that helps with my blemishes, 1 for extra hydration (Hyaluronic Acid and B5) and the final one is vitamin C for my acne and I use The Ordinary serums.
Step 5: Face cream
I apply my face cream and allow it to air dry. I apply a little bit during the morning and a little extra during the night for overnight (like when i am sleeping). This face cream also have the active ingredient of Hyaluronic Acid.
Step 6: Sunscreen + Aloe Vera
I have 2 sunscreens that I rotate with. One is thin and for sensitive skin which I use on the days that I want to or are going to wearing makeup. I apply a 5 sent coin size amount (even less to be honest) and pat it in. The second one is for ‘normal’ skin but fairly oily. So when I apply this one I use aloe vera with it: mix sunscreen with aloe vera. I pat and blend the sunscreen mix on.
Step 7: Aloe Vera
As you may have noticed, I use a lot of aloe vera. However I use aloe vera to help with my dry sensitive skin and after all of that I apply yet another layer of aloe vera.
Step 8: Prescription Creams
Since I have rashes on my face that go and come, I have my prescription creams that I apply, pat and blend.
Taaaadddaaaaa that is my skin care routine. 8 steps seems long but mind you it have become routine that I can do this routine in 5 minutes. I normally do this while getting other things ready like my outfit for the day, my school bag, my bed or a little tidy since between each step after patting and blending I allow the product dry completely.
